This film explains how the stock exchange works, gives an overview of the history of the Vancouver Stock Exchange, and follows the Very Hopeful Mining Company. The Very Hopeful Mining Company raises capitol through the Vancouver Stock Exchange and eventually becomes a successful company. Includes black and white archival footage of early Vancouver.

Footage shows jets landing, flying, taxiing and taking off. Footage includes shots of other buildings and air hangars. Also buildings and traffic at night, Footage was transferred from film to video before transfer to the archives; sprocket holes can be seen at times. At times there is a ring of shadow around the outer rim of the frame.

Baghead creation myth

Item is an amateur video recording of a theatrical presentation by a grade 5 class from Hastings School, filmed in the courtyard in front of the main hall. The presentation is a creation myth story in which a trickster monkey builds dolls out of mud which are then animated by thunder and lightning. These ‘bagheads’ travel between several worlds and encounter various strange creatures before finding the perfect world and removing their masks to become the first people. Presentation includes footage of the spectators and teachers.

Bapco promotional film, Hong Kong footage

Item is an amateur film which begins with what appears to be scenes from an advertisement for the British America Paint Company (BAPCO): a BAPCO building is pictured, followed by the intertitle "For Three Generations Bapco has served the West with quality products," followed by a shot of a portrait of W.J. Pendray and men in suits walking around a garden. A shot of a ship then precedes the intertitle "At Bapco exists constructive cooperation between Western Canadian capital and Canadian technicians and craftsmen in producing quality products carefully formulated to meet the exacting requirements of the West." Following shots include an office with people typing, reading papers, and working at their desks; chemists working in a lab, including shots of titration into a beaker and an oil centrifuge; and cans of Satin-Glo paint. The latter half of the film is footage from Douglas Scott's time in Hong Kong, which includes shots of junks, rafts, and sampans on the water; a Buddhist temple; a steam ship; the Scott's Hong Kong house; Margaret and her mother by the shore; grape picking; waves rolling against the shore; and the Scott family swimming, including slow motion shots of diving in the water.

Barbara's wedding [and other events]

Item is an amateur film documenting various family events, including the wedding of Barbara Spencer to Laurence Norman Bruce in Kelowna, B.C. 28 April 1961. Other events include waterskiing, a helicopter ride over the Lion's Gate Bridge, fishing, and another wedding.

Barkerville Town and Show

Item is a film depicting a visit to Barkerville. It starts with an image of a wooden structure and a sign that explains that it is a recreation of the pumps used in Cornish tin mines.This is followed by El Dorado Placer Mine, operated by the Barkerville Advisory Committee of the provincial Parks Branch, in Barkerville Historic Town. Tourists are filmed panning in troughs of water and walking around the historic buildings. Inside the exhibits, wax figures have been set in domestic scenes. A crowd of people is filmed waiting to see Gold Fever at a building called the Theatre Royal. Inside, female dancers and a male musician are filmed performing on a stage.

Item is a film showing various home movie scenes with the McCuaig family members and dog (Jocko) at home and at the cabin with friends, new Valiant convertible, Vincent Kendan McCuaig flying a plane, over the cabin and later over Seattle, Ucluelet and Tofino, moving to new home at 5078 Marguerite Street, Patricia McCuaig's debut at the Military Ball in 1966, water skiing and fishing.

Bellingham regat[ta]

Item is an amateur film which captures a regatta of various sail boats, including schooners, cutters, sloops, ketches, yawls, and catboats. Footage of the Treasury-class United States Coast Guard Cutter (USGSC) Ingham, a highly decorated Coast Guard ship, is also captured, including shots aboard the ship. Late in the film, the steel-hulled bark USS Intrepid and its rigging is captured from aboard the ship.
