Historical notes

Series consists of accumulated notes on the history of the Vancouver Poetry Society. Records reflect how the society was formed, information on its founding members, and its activities and accomplishments.

Membership

Series consists of records documenting the membership of the Vancouver Poetry Society over the majority of its existence. The records include membership lists showing regular, corresponding and life members (1922-1972); reports of the social convenor (1944-1957); membership roll and dues paid, including the names and addresses of members (1928-1951); a sign-in book for meetings of the Society indicating which members were in attendance, and their guests (1936-1956).

Minutes

Series consists of minutes from the meetings of the Vancouver Poetry Society. The records reflect the content of the meetings, including such activities as discussion and criticism of each others' work, guest lectures, entertainment, and motions put before the executive. The minutes also record discussions of poets and poetry in general, and the effect of world-wide events on the Society. In addition, all outside activities of the Society over its 58 year history are reflected in these records, including publication of "Full Tide," the radio broadcast "Lyric West," and publication of the work of members.
