File consists of Ted Taylor's private and professional correspondence, financial records and receipts, studio passes, clippings, notes, diagrams, postcards, cards, photo card and other material. Includes a letter from Ken Taylor regarding a visit to L.D. Taylor, several letters from L.D. to Ken and Ted and some letters from Ted to L.D. A few of L.D.'s letters discuss Western Canada's political issues and his original intention to settle in Alaska, not Vancouver, when he left Chicago. File also contains records relating to Ted's work for the Screen Publicists Guild and his involvement with the Los Angeles Central Labor Council and the Los Angeles Newspaper Guild. Also included in the file is material received from the Hollywood Democratic Committee and the Federated Press, as well as greetings and cards from Industrial Films, Carl and Gerda Lerner and Darby St. John.

Newspapers and clippings

Series consists of newspapers and newspaper clippings published by or pertaining to L.D. Taylor. Includes a partial issue of The Daily World (1901) and several issues of The New Deal (1937). Series also includes a scrap book presented to Taylor by his sons, containing mainly newspaper clippings, as well as some correspondence, ephemera, and photographs accumulated by L.D., circa 1927 to 1945.

1943 TT [Ted Taylor]

File consists of Ted Taylor personal and professional correspondence, financial records, draft of writings, clippings, leaflets, notes, address book pages, a postcard, cards and other material. It contains correspondence with L.D. Taylor, including a letter in which L.D. discusses his view of provincial and federal politics. Ted's letters discuss his work for the Screen Publicists Guild and family activities, including the marriage of Mary Louise Taylor. File also contains invoices for Ted's Screen Publicists Guild work.

Beaton

File consists of Octavia Beaton correspondence, newspaper clippings, minutes and reports, lists, cards, leaflets, programs, poetry, prose and two photographs. Includes correspondence with George Beaton, Ralph Beaton, the Los Angeles Chapter of the American Red Cross and the British War Relief Association of Southern California, and informational material from the Hollywood Chapter of Bundles for Britain. File also contains records relating to Beaton's involvement with the Hollywood Woman's Club, including minutes of its first general meeting on October 2, 1940, minutes and reports of its Public Affairs Section, 1942-1943, programs for club events and Beaton's correspondence on behalf of the Club. Also included in the file are clippings relating to the Second World War's effect on the American public, and a photograph of Mary May Beaton.

Osborne J. Pierce family sousfonds

Sousfonds consists of records of the Osborne J. Pierce family, most notably records of Osborne J. Pierce, Caroline Little Pierce, Winifred Mabel Pierce, Annie Louise (Pierce) Taylor, and, to a lesser extent, those of L.D. Taylor, Theodore Pierce Taylor, and Kenneth Osborn Taylor. The sousfonds includes correspondence, diaries, journals, photographs, and financial and investment records relating to members of the Pierce family. Also included are records of Osborne J. Pierce relating to his business affairs as an architect and a drawing instructor and his military service during the American Civil War, as well as various autobiographical, prose and poetic writings by Osborne. The sousfonds also contains records relating to Winifred s career as a schoolteacher, and records concerning Annie s education, her marriage to L.D. Taylor, and the time that she spent living in Vancouver, British Columbia. Among the correspondence there are several letters to and from L.D. dating from the time that he left Chicago and came to Vancouver, British Columbia, through his ownership and loss of the World newspaper, 1905 to 1915, and during his first three terms as Mayor of Vancouver in 1910, 1911 and 1915.

Series consists of L.D. Taylor s financial records, including banking records, property and income tax records, and records relating to his business interests in the New Oil Fields Corporation Ltd., the Big Seven Oil Company, and the Vancouver Oil and Mining Record. Series also includes records relating to a mortgage taken out by Alice Berry.

1941 TT [Ted Taylor]

File consists of Ted Taylor personal and professional correspondence, financial records and receipts, publicity and other notes, an appointment book, studio passes, cards, ephemera and other material. File contains several letters to and from L.D. Taylor, including letters pertaining to Ted's employment, L.D.'s prospectus for a proposed northern British Columbia mining publication and information bureau and L.D.'s visit to Los Angeles. Also included in this correspondence is a leaflet of The Greater B.C. Association. File also contains correspondence from the Motion Picture Relief Fund, Screen Cartoonists Guild, and Guild Placement Service, as well as correspondence relating to Ted's applications for various positions.

Osborne J. Pierce and Caroline Little Pierce financial and investment records

Series consists of records pertaining to Osborne J. and Caroline Little Pierces' finances, in particular their real estate and stock investments. Real estate records include property deeds, options, agreements for sale, and other legal documents, as well as correspondence, notes, invoices, receipts and drawings. Records relating to stock investments in the Los Angeles Investment Company include account statements, agreements, receipts and other documents, newsletters, newspaper clippings, a semi-annual report and a book. The series also includes some records relating to Annie Louise Taylor's investment in the Company. In addition, the series includes government documents, legal documents, correspondence and newspaper clippings pertaining to the disbursement of Osborne's estate and pension, and notes made by Caroline concerning her estate.

L.D.T. [L.D. Taylor] - B-C Bank, Vancouver [and correspondence]

File consists of correspondence, financial records, newspaper articles, three newspapers and a leaflet. Includes correspondence between L.D. and Ted Taylor. L.D.'s letters discuss his plans to run in the 1936 Vancouver mayoral election and his opinion of the current mayor, his defeat in the election, and his publication of "The New Deal" newspaper in 1937. Ted's letters discuss his positions with the "Hollywood Reporter" and Columbia Pictures and outline family activities. The file also contains the first three issues of "The New Deal," March 26, April 2 and April 9, 1937; copies of Ted Taylor articles sent to L.D. for inclusion in the paper; records for a joint Bank of Montreal account between Ted and L.D.; and a Greater B.C. Association leaflet.

File consists of Ted Taylor correspondence, financial records, appointment book pages, newspaper clippings, articles, postcards, and other material. Includes several letters to and from L.D. Taylor, including letters regarding Ted's employment situation and his new publication "Hollywood Movies," as well as L.D.'s view of world events and Gerald (Gerry) McGeer's campaign for a seat in the House of Commons.

[L.D. Taylor correspondence]

File consists of newspaper clippings and correspondence. Clippings pertain to L.D. Taylor's appointment as an honourary life member in the Vancouver Exhibition Association. Correspondence includes two 1934 letters to Octavia Beaton in which he discusses his activities as mayor and his 1934 election campaign, and two letters to his family in January 1940 in which he discusses his social life. Included with the correspondence are four photographs of the opening of the United Airlines Terminal at the Sea Island airport in 1934.
