The City of Vancouver Archives documentary art collection consists of visual art works relating to the social, political, cultural and artistic history of Vancouver. Items in the collection include original works of art (acrylic, oil, and watercolor paintings; drawings; cartoons; and illuminations), original prints, and sculptures.
The works in the City of Vancouver Archives documentary art collection are differentiated from other categories of art by their emphasis on factual, objective representation rather than conceptual or interpretive representation. Each item in the collection represents a notable person, site, or event.

The fonds consists of administrative records, project files, correspondence, minutes and reports documenting the operation of the Society. The fonds also contains historical photographs, topical reference files, films and oral history tapes which were collected by the Society to preserve historical information of Kerrisdale community.

Kitsilano Information Centre Society
Fonds consists mainly of official documents relating to the immigration and citizenship status of Giovanni Grippo and his son Theodore. Document types include immigration and naturalization documents, citizenship papers, one Italian passport, marriage certificates, and correspondence relating to company service and retirement benefits. Fonds also include photographs and two religious prints.
The fonds consists of records of the Hamber and Hendry families and of Eric Hamber including photographs, films, manuscripts and fine art. The photographs, 1880-1985, consist primarily of professional studio portraiture and the manuscript material consists primarily of souvenirs or memorabilia. Photographs depict the Hamber and Hendry families and Eric Hamber's life as an international financier, B.C. Lieutenant Governor, industrialist, athlete, and rancher. The films are primarily home movies that depict a range of social activities in which the Hamber family was involved. Two films are newsreel items documenting a polo game for BC Challenge Trophy and the visit of Governor General his excellency the Right Honourable the Earl of Bessborough, PC, GCMC, and her excellency the Countess of Bessborough to the Britannia Mines on board of Eric Hamber's yacht.
The fonds contains minutes, milk agreements, membership records, financial papers, published records, ledgers, a membership index, manuals of operation, pamphlets, historical manuscripts and ephemera, speeches by Dan Nicholson (President of the Association), papers relating to the British Columbia Royal Commission on Milk (1954-1955), and transcripts of interviews with pioneers. Also included are scrapbooks, audio tapes of annual meetings, and photographs. The fonds also includes records of Royal Dairies Limited (originally Young Hoy Limited). Photographs in the fonds depict the construction of the Burnaby plant (1962-1963) and various photographs pertaining to the Association and the Fraser Valley in general. The City of Vancouver Archives library collection is meant to complement our archival holdings. The collection's primary purpose is to support research at the Archives by staff and patrons. It contains books on British Columbia history especially those that focus on the history of the Greater Vancouver area and the people who live and work there. Special topics in the collection include books on forestry and fishing and other books that explore the economic history of the City of Vancouver. The collection also includes current Archival practical and academic resources as well as more than five hundred monographs collected and annotated by the first City Archivist, Major James Skitt Matthews.
The collection consists of microfilmed copies of Expo 86 site plans. These include specification books and tender inquiries. Specific EXPO sites include: International Pavilion, Monorail Stations, and the Expo Theatre. An index is provided.

Merilees, Harold James
The collection consists of architectural drawings by the architectural firms Burke, Horwood and White, and Horwood and White for the Hudson's Bay Company store building located at on West Georgia Street. The records principally document additions to the building, designed in 1925 and constructed in 1925 and 1926, which brought the building up to its modern footprint.
The collection includes preliminary, construction and as-built drawings pertaining to the 1925 addition and 1926 replacement of original 1893 building on the site. The drawings are primarily mechanical, HVAC, plumbing and electrical drawings, though the collection does contain some drawings of architectural designs. The drawings are depicted as floor plans, elevations, sections, details and schematic diagrams.
The drawings include reference copies of drawings from the construction of the 1913 addition to the 1893 store, the earliest part of the building still standing. The collection also includes a watercolour rendering of the store done at or after the completion of the building.

The fonds consists of Maxwell's essays and sermons along with photographs of the Synod of the Presbyterian Church in Canada, taken in 1861, and a photograph of Maxwell taken at a church picnic in the 1890s.

Fonds consists of photographs showing primarily views of downtown Vancouver including prominent buildings, aerial views, commercial and residential properties, as well as the Larwill Park area, and the phases of construction for the former Westcoast Transmission building at 1333 West Georgia Street. The fonds also includes a few photographs from over Vancouver locations, including along Broadway and aerial views of different parts of the city.
The fonds consists of fifteen sketchbooks containing courtroom illustrations done by Jane Wolsak. The sketches depict participants in civil and criminal proceedings in both provincial and federal courts held in the greater Vancouver region between 1998 and 2010. Some of the sketches were licensed to newspapers and television news broadcasters for inclusion in their reporting.
Wolsak covered many high profile trials during this period, including the trials of Kelly Ellard and Warren Glowatski for the murder of Reena Kirk; Ajaib Singh Bagri, Ripudaman Singh Malik and Inderjit Singh Reyat for the Air India bombings; and Robert ‘Willie’ Picton for the murders of twenty-seven women. Complete listings of the covered trials are included in the respective descriptions for the individual sketchbooks.
