Attendance at the Prague Congress for Award

Subseries contains records relating to the planning and attendance by the formal Canadian delegation to the International Congress of the IOC. Many members of BidCorp and other Canadian dignitaries were chosen to present Vancouver's official bid for the 2010 Winter Olympics before the Congress in Prague, which took place on July 2, 2003. Following the presentations, the IOC chose Vancouver as the site of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.

Sport Relations

Series contains records of the administrative unit responsible for maintaining positive relations with the Canadian Olympic Association (which became the Canadian Olympic Committee in 2002), as well as with other sports organizations such as the Canadian Paralympic Committee, the Calgary Olympic Development Association, and the International Sport Federation.

The series is further divided into two subseries: COA/COC and Other Sport Organizations.

Sports and Venues

Series contains subseries and files of the administrative business unit of the same name charged with development of a technical package for each sport discipline, including related Paralympic disciplines, reflecting the International Federation (IF) requirements for each sport. Subject areas include venue requirements, equipment standards, results, scoring and timing needs, course layouts, and other related technical considerations.

Series is further divided into nineteen subseries: Alpine Skiing Sport Technical Plan, Biathlon Sport Technical Plan, Bobsleigh, Luge and Skeleton Sport Technical Plan, Callaghan Valley Master Plan, Cross Country Sport Technical Plan, Curling Sport Technical Plan, Figure Skating Technical Plans, Freestyle Skiing Sport Technical Plan, General, Greater Vancouver Venues, Health Services, Safety & Security, Ice Hockey Sport Technical Plan, Nordic Combined Sport Technical Plan, Paralympic Sports, Ski Jump Sport Technical Plan, Snow Sport General, Snowboarding Sport Technical Plan, Speed Skating Sport Technical Plan, Whistler / Cypress Venues.

International Relations

Series contains files of the International Relations administrative unit. It was responsible for promotion and engagement of the organization at the international level. It targeted key stakeholders such as IOC members and officials, international sports federations and officials, national Olympic committees, international sport agencies and officials, and finally, international media organisations. It sought to establish a major promotional and communications presence at the Salt Lake City Winter Olympic games, as well as maintain a "Bid Cities Reconnaissance Program" to study other cities activity engaged in seeking to host the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.

Series is further divided into six subseries: Attendance at the Congress for Award, Clothing and Merchandise, General Planning, IOC, IOC Evaluation Commission Visits, and Salt Lake City Games.

Government Support and Services

Series contains records generated by the BidCorp administrative unit responsible for oversight and management of the necessary funding and service commitments from each level of government. This unit obtained commitments relating to infrastructure improvements required to develop the Olympic bid, as well as coordinated the involvement of government with the overall BidCorp planning process.

The series contains one subseries: Economic Studies.

Fundraising Sales and Services

Series contains files of the Fundraising Sales and Services administrative unit. It was responsible for raising funds and in-kind support from the private sector to assit in meeting the core financial and operating requirements of BidCorp. It developed fundraising plans and coordinated BidCorp's fundraising efforts with the COA/COC in order to ensure that its fundraising agreements were consistent with its contractual agreements. It also created a merchandise and outreach program to increase awareness and promote the organization's efforts, as well as to generate additional revenue.
