Item is a copy of "Canada's magnificent snowbirds - 20th Anniversary" one hour television network documentary featuring Canada's aerobatic team, the Snowbirds. The documentary begins with an overall set up of a child wanting to grow up to be a Snowbird pilot. The story of the Snowbirds begins with try outs for four new Snowbirds pilots and moves on to the history of aerobatic flight teams in Canada. Using a mix of narration, interviews and historical footage the history of the Snowbirds is laid out and then the narration moves into practice, training and the designing of the new airshow routine for the 1991, 20th Anniversary, season. Leaving the training base in Moose Jaw, S.K. the Snowbirds team travels to Comox, B.C. for an airshow. The documentary continues with an overview of the role of the Snowbirds and their goals on their public relations and air show role. Themes touch on why the Snowbirds have lasted as long as they have and why they will continue on into the future. In addition to shots of crowds and performances two airshow promoters from the USA are interviewed. Back in Moose Jaw at the end of the 1991 season there is a reunion of alumni pilots. The documentary ends with a final performance of the 20th season and a child on a beach inspired to someday be a Snowbird pilot. Narrated by Leslie Neilsen. Cassette version edited from D-2. MacIsaac gives an account of the final push to make the summit by three of the team members: Denis Brown, Mario Belladeau and John MacIsaac. Team members sort garbage and do some personal grooming, beard trimming and bathing. The video also includes footage of the Canadian team at a local settlement/monastery. The video ends with an interview with Alan about the communication from Everest with Canadian media.

Childcare professionals from Langara Child Development Centre discuss the importance of language development in children and the importance of intervening early when children have difficulties. Patience Towler, Vancouver Health Department Senior Speech Language Pathologist,introduces the purpose of the program: to recognize speech development issues in children, and understand when children should be referred to a language pathologist. The program then goes on to explain a general timeline for expressive language development in children; the difference between expressive language and language comprehension; skills required for language comprehension; and second or parallel language development in children. The program details how to recognize potential speech and language difficulties in children; watching children for difficulties in interactions with others; and communicating with the child's parents. This is followed by descriptions of the potential speech and language difficulties a child may have, including difficulties with pronunciation, fluency, and voice.

Laser discs were very new at this time and cost over $2500 each to manufacture. This laser disc was produced to be used with specially designed players that would allow for touch-screen interaction from visitors to the B.C. Pavilion.
