Arts Edge : World AIDS Day 1993

This episode was created in honour of World AIDS Day and celebrates gay artists and their work addressing sexuality and AIDS. The program includes two feature documentaries. Jones/Arnie Zane and Company", an Antelope West Production for BBC Television runs from 01:19:46 until 02:19:12. The program also contains interviews with Queer City Co-curators Paul Lang, Daniel Collins and Nhan Duc; Ingrid Alderson; Roxanne Cave; Joe Average; and Vancouver Men's Chorus members Scott Lewis and Willi Zwozdesky (Conductor).

DMS [Dogwood Monarchist Society] Coronation Ball 1999 : a medieval legend of a crystal diamond goddess

Item is a videocassette containing a recording of the 1999 DMS Coronation Ball, A Medieval Legend of a Crystal Diamond Goddess, at the Roundhouse Community Centre with emcee Mona Lee. The video opens with a note from Amazing Video Productions explaining technical issues that resulted in the first set not captured to tape. Sets two to four of the show were taped. At 4:45:20 the video intersperses footage supplied by Roger's Cablevision which contains documentation of the first set of the Coronation Ball, as well as commentary and interviews.

Item is a videocassette containing a documentary entitled 'Faces: GLBT in Vancouver.' The documentary traces the history of LGBTQ life in Vancouver and shows demonstrations, businesses, legal frameworks, community leaders, night life, AIDS/HIV, activism, neighbourhoods and celebrations. The video contains interviews and archival footage of Bill Richardson, Margo Dunn, Ellen Woodsworth, Esther Phillips, Jamie Lee Hamilton, Rob Joyce, Don Hann, Maurice Flood, Pierre Elliot Trudeau, Sarah Davidson, Mary-Woo Sims, Heather Kitching, Jim Deva, Svend Robinson, Tim Stevenson, Ted Northe, Gordon Price, Janine Fuller, Gareth Kirby, Angus Praught, Dennis Dahl, Garry Penny, Jane Rule, Nym Hughes, Libby Davies. The archival footage in the film was provided by the CBC. The documentary was produced, directed and edited by Thomas Donovan.

Gay Pride Parade 1997

The documentary explores experiences and expressions of religion and impacts on the LGBTQ2+ community and includes interviews with the following people: Dr. Martin Brokenleg, Brent, Naomi, Hussein, Chris, Bridget, Rick, Father William Mendenhall, Rabai Ken Kaufman, Frank McMillar, and al-Qamar.

Item is a videocassette containing the documentary "Gay Spirit in the Family" by Barbara Anderson and Brad Newcombe. The film is narrated by Helen Shaver and aired on VTV (Vancouver Television). The documentary explores various ideas about family structures and interviews individuals about their families and beliefs around parenting including members of the Coalition for the Protection of Parental Rights. The video contains interviews with Dr. Arlene McLaren, Keith G., Gary, June, Susan, Lindsay, Fatma Taha, Erma Victorisz, Sylvia Murray, Jan, Grant Gobman, Art Zoccole, Surrinder Varpaul, Donna Wilson, Laura M., James, Keith S. and Jules. The recording includes commercial breaks and ends abruptly during one of the interviews.

HIV in the Workplace

Item is a videocassette containing a short film entitled "HIV in the Workplace.". The film aims to be a guide on the prevention and management of HIV for health care and other public service workers. The film was produced by Tagish Presentations Ltd. for the B.C. Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS. St. Paul's Hospital. The video features interviews with Dr. Chris Sherlock, Dr. Alastair McLeod, Rosemary Riddell, Detective Valerie Harrison, Marilyn Dallas, Dr. Robert Voigt, Nancy McMillin and Carole Taylor.

Homo for the holidays III : Christmas in the tropics

Item is a videocassette containing a recording of the Rainy City Gay Men's Chorus production of Christmas in the Tropics. Hookers on Davie

Item is a videocassette containing a recording of a documentary entitled 'Hookers on Davie'. The film contains footage showing sex workers working in the West End, organizing and protesting. The documentary includes interviews with sex workers and others including Ricky, Joey, Michelle, Michelle's mother, Tiffany, Bev, and members of ASP (Association for the Safety of Prostitutes). Film is shot in the West End, and includes footage from inside the Columbia Inn.

I am alive : Jim Currie [music video]

Item is a videocassette containing a music video for the song "I Am Alive" by the artist Jim Currie. The music video was directed and edited by Billy Chapman. The video contains captioning for the lyrics and additional biographical details about the life of Jim Currie and his fight with AIDs. Jim Currie died before the music video could be made and does not appear in the video.
