Item is a recording of a documentary of Celebration '90: Gay Games III and Cultural Festival in Vancouver (B.C.). The recording opens with the opening ceremonies of Celebration '90 in B.C. Place stadium on August 4th, 1990, including the parade of athletes; remarks from Master of Ceremonies Robin Tyler, Member of Parliament and honorary board member Svend Robinson; Metropolitan Vancouver Athletic & Arts Association (MVAAA) board member and Celebration '90 Director Richard Dopson, and MVAAA board member Betty Baxter. Following is an interview with Celebration '90 Office Manager Mary Brookes with shots of the registration process and volunteers in action as participants arrive at the airport, followed by footage of a men and womens' triathalon in English Bay/West End, the awarding of medals, and a game of water polo. The documentary then continues with remarks about Celebration '90 and gay pride from MP Svend Robinson, Sports Co-chair Mark Wilson, Mike Mealiffe, author Jane Rule, Betty Baxter, Celebration '90 Executive Director Mark Mees, Richard Dopson, and Team Auckland, as well as footage of Celebration '90 Gay Games III and Cultural Festival events: "Dancelebration" (at the Commodore Ballroom), men's wrestling, women's weightlifting, women's swimming, women's and men's volleyball, men's soccer, costumed swimming relays, the festival chorus (performing at the Plaza of Nations), Swing '90 (the San Francisco City Swing Band and Tap Troupe at the Commodore Ballroom), a dance party, ice hockey, and men's and women's physique competitions. The documentary ends with the closing ceremonies of Celebration '90 in B.C. Place stadium on August 11th, 1990, including remarks from Federation of Gay Games Co-President Rick Peterson and announcement of Gay Games IV being awarded to New York (N.Y.), followed by words from Manager of Volunteer Services Heather Williams and a montage of Gay Games III Celebration '90 events.

We drivers (part 1)

Item is a motion picture film produced for local Vancouver garages, which discusses issues related to automobile maintenance. The film depicts tune-up procedures, discussing each step while illustrating it on screen. Included are scenes of a car on a lift and contemporary gasoline pumps. A discussion of automotive safety is accompanied by a rendering of "The Motorists Prayer" and footage of damaged cars. The film includes a drive to Little Mountain and around Stanley Park, showing Brockton Point, Lumberman's Arch, and Prospect Point, taking notice of the various license plates from around the world. The film ends with footage of boxing and other physical exercise.

Winter survival

Film is a teaching aid and shows stories of people who made proper choices as well as those who made poor choices when preparing for cross-country skiing or snowmobiling in the wilderness. The drama of a successful rescue is also shown.
"Winter survival" won the Gold Plaque - Best Public Health Film at the Chicago International Film Festival and a Silver Screen Award - Safety and Health at the U.S. Industrial Film Festival.

Winter Survival - National Film Board [NFB]

Item is a film made by Michael Collier in collaboration with the National Film Board [NFB] of Canada. The narrative follows a cross-country skier not prepared for an emergency situation and a snowmobiler who is prepared and able to keep himself comfortable until help arrives. The skier is rescued and treated for hypothermia by a group of cross-country skiers who are knowledgeable regarding proper first aid. Wire

Item is a short independent film filmed, directed and edited by Michael Collier. The three actors are: Dennis MacDonald, Gary Killeen and Dave Ponsart. Film depicts three men who find some insulated wire in the ocean [at wreck beach], drag it into a pile, hitchhike to downtown Vancouver, and then travel around downtown dragging the wire on the sidewalk behind them. Eventually the wire is left to one man who drags it on his own for a while until he leaves it in the car of a man from whom he hitched a ride. Popular music soundtrack.

Assistance in the making of the film provided by Alpha Cine, Intermedia, and Telesound. Film shows a man sleeping and dreaming of driving nails into various objects or simply smashing them with a hammer. When he wakes up he leaves home with his lunch bucket and then quickly returns for his hammer. Music soundtrack.

Women and AIDS : A Human Rights Issue : Public Forum [panel]

Item is a video recording of a public forum sponsored by the Vancouver World AIDS Group, the Vancouver Health Department, and others, in honour of World AIDS Day in Vancouver, Saturday December 1, 1990. This year's theme 'Women and AIDS'. Opening address by Lezlie Wagman. Libby Davies reads a proclamation from the Mayor of Vancouver on World AIDS Day. The moderator is Rosemary Brown. Panelists include: Jane (Brazil, Institute of Religious Studies), Heather (Vancouver Persons with AIDS Society), Mary (Zambia, member of first HIV positive support group in Lusaka) and Laurie (Canada).

Yaletown Everest 11

Item is original camera tape footage taken for the "Everest - Climb for hope" documentary. Footage includes scenes for men packing, breaking camp, and cleaning. MacIsaac gives an account of the final push to make the summit by three of the team members: Denis Brown, Mario Belladeau and John MacIsaac. Team members sort garbage and do some personal grooming, beard trimming and bathing. The video also includes footage of the Canadian team at a local settlement/monastery. The video ends with an interview with Alan about the communication from Everest with Canadian media.

Item is original camera tape footage taken for the "Everest - Climb for hope" documentary. Video contains interviews with team members at a time near the end of the expedition. And one interview with an expedition Sherpa. Video contains camp ambiance, packing up and clean-up. Sherpas sort through food left-over and supplies after the expedition. The video ends with a party and a food fight.

Item is original camera tape footage taken for the "Everest - Climb for hope" documentary. Ambient noise. Video contains footage of a fire built to burn garbage and the team's trip to [out of] base camp. On the way the truck gets stuck and is dug out; the truck also stops and the team interacts with some local farmers.

Yaletown Productions ; Belize - promo[tional] 7:30

Item is promotional material for "Belize - Rain Forest Expedition" (1995). This was a pilot for a television series for Discovery Channel. The series did not proceed. The video introduces Belize with shots of locals, then follows a group of scientists and archeologists into the Belize rainforest where they observe wildlife and discover Mayan ruins. Information about Belize, to supplement the narration, is interspersed at the bottom of the screen.

Yaletown Productions ; IKEA [commercials]

Item is television commercials produced by Yaletown Productions for Manifesto Films Europe. Featuring: IKEA, 20 spots, 5 different commercials each in four language versions. The client is IKEA, and each commercial is presented in German, French, Italian and English. All five English versions come at the end of the tape while the foreign language versions alternate. Commercials grab the viewer's attention with humorous and risque themes.

Item is a video with a behind-the-scenes video titled "The making of Barclay personal taste," which shows the making of a Barclays commercial, as well as samples, of different lengths, of commercials made for Barclays. Features various sets, setting up sets, shots of downtown Vancouver and inside the Vancouver Public Library Central Branch, actors and film crews. Video also includes a making of video for the commercial "Manifesto 2002 Caritas Brunnen" and samples of a German and English version of the finished commercial. Features a model of a mouth. "Manifesto Films August 2002 making of CableCom in Vancouver" gives a behind-the-scenes look at the making of a commercial for CableCom. In addition to the completed CableCom commercial video includes other Manifesto Films commercials; a Panasonic commercial, a Cheveron commercial for Orthene Fire Ant Killer, a Fox commercial for the Emmy Awards, two Kinder Bueno commercials, and a Hero FruitKiss commercial.

Yaletown Productions "Weird Wheels" ; TV [television] series

Item is promotional material for the television series "Weird Wheels" (2000). This was produced by Yaletown Entertainment as a promotional material for Life Network. The series was produced and 39 episodes completed and aired across North America. Video starts and ends with Weird Wheels animation. The cars featured include a wrought iron bug, a mobile phone (a mash up between a Chevy truck and phone booth), a hurse covered in buttons, a car for god when he comes to earth, a guitar motorcycle, and a shoe bicycle. The promotional short also visits an art car parade in San Francisco, CA.

Yokohama festival, joint concert in Stanley Park

Item is a videocassette containing a news presentation from Japanese television about a joint concert [in Stanley Park] with Japanese and Canadian youths leading up to the Yokohama Day celebration at Expo 86.

The broadcast begins with a newscaster introducing the piece, and cuts to performances of Japanese and Canadian musicians playing jazz and band music, followed by short interviews with English speakers reacting to the music and the cultural exchange. Next up is a fashion show with ‘Miss Yokohama’ and a mixture of Japanese and Western women in traditional Japanese clothing, followed by a group of Japanese women playing traditional music on Koto. Street scenes of the grounds are followed by a brief interview with [an unknown politician or organizer] (in English) and then interviews with Japanese youth on the grounds. The band from earlier then plays an evening show, followed by interviews with the young Japanese musicians and some of the audience members (in English). The spot concludes with night footage of the grounds.
