Visitor's brochure to the Expo 86 Japan Pavilion begins its introduction by stating: "'The Pulse of Change,' the theme of the Japan Pavilion, accurately reflects Japan's rapidly evolving transportation systems of yesterday, today, and tomorrow...The exhibition portrays the history of Japan's transportation systems within the framework of our unique climate, natural resources, and culture."
