Series consists of several sets of incoming correspondence relating to the City Engineer's public liaison and senior management activities. The earliest correspondents include the Canadian Pacific Railway Company; the early letters are addressed to the City Engineer, to City Council, to the City Clerk, or to the Board of Works. Arranged chronologically.

Series documents efforts by the City Engineer's Office to plan hydro-electric development to serve the City of Vancouver, and is related to hydro-electric surveys conducted in the first three decades of the 20th century in the areas to the north, north-east and south-east of Greater Vancouver. The series consists of maps and survey drawings prepared for City-commissioned reports by the City Engineer's office, as well as reference maps and other proposals by firms such as the B.C. Electric and Power Company, the Bridge River Power Company, or the Nairn Falls Power Company, produced and compiled during report preparation on the source of hydro-electric power for Vancouver.

Series consists of the records of the Metric Conversion Committee, which was formed in January 1977 to coordinate metric conversion planning for the City in compliance with federal and provincial requirements. Senior representatives of civic departments met monthly to develop conversion plans for their departments, develop conversion budgets, and schedule training for employees.
Records consist of photocopies of minutes of committee meetings, and supporting documents relating to metric conversion, including newsletters, reports, and surveys. The minutes are arranged in chronological order.

Series consists of the City Engineer's set of his reports to the Board of Works (1906-1956) and to the Board of Administration (1956-1959) on works matters. As of 1936 water matters were also included (because the Board of Works took over from City Council's Water Committee). The reports seek approval for recommendations pertaining to proposed, e.g., local improvements, lot clearing, sewer construction, water main repair, street and lane improvements, garbage collection, gas main installation, etc. Reports were signed as adopted by the secretary of the Board of Works. Series consists of the City Engineer's set of Board of Works reports (1906-1956), Board of Administration reports (1956-1974), and City Manager's reports (1974-1977), relating to engineering matters, which were forwarded to City Council for adoption, and signed by the City Clerk. Series consists of records relating to a wide variety of subjects which concerned the Office of the City Engineer, inluding infrastructure (roads, bridges, sewer systems and harbour facilities); administrative and personnel matters; industry, especially energy and resource industries; and False Creek, especially the False Creek Development Survey of the early 1950s. Series also contains correspondence with City Departments and officials.

Series consists of evaluation reports on Engineering activities (parking, street cleaning, landfill, etc.), manuals of the Engineering Department, publications relating to the City's major issues which were kept by the City Engineer, and papers given by the City Engineer to outside organizations, a selection of publications collected by successive City Engineers (since at least 1956, when R.
