Constitution, by-laws, motions

Series consists of a number of copies of the Vancouver Poetry Society constitution, by-laws, and lists of recommendations and motions passed between 1936 and 1956. The records reflect the evolution of the Society's mandate and objectives from its inception to 1956, and provide information on its policies regarding election of officers, membership, meetings, process for amendments, duties of officers, and the executive committee.

Correspondence

Series consists of correspondence received and sent about a wide range of matters related to the functions of the Vancouver Poetry Society. The series includes general correspondence (1921-1974) and correspondence of Bertha Wheeler, vice president of the Society (1960-1963). The general correspondence reflects all the activities of the Society over its history, including production of a Chapbook, administrative activities, content of meetings, critique of the work of poets both within and outside the society, and the decision to dissolve the Society in 1974. Bertha Wheeler's correspondence relates to her roles as vice president, editor of "Full Tide," and as a member of the Canadian Authors Association.

Full Tide

Series consists of records relating to "Full Tide," the self-published magazine of the Vancouver Poetry Society, which offered a forum for the publication of the works of its members. The series includes administration and production records and published copies. Administration and production records for "Full Tide" consist of editor's reports (1946-1971), financial statements (1948-1960), typescripts, and rejected submissions. Also included is a full run of copies of "Full Tide."
