St. Andrew's Wesley United Church - historical and present

The album was assembled to commemorate the opening of the church on May 26, 1933. Photographs in the album show: church organ and organist, the separate St. Andrew's and Wesley Churches, group photographs (including the Wesley Choir picnic), and interior views of the church (including the pulpit, the nave, the guest register, the chancel, and the communion table).

Subseries consists of photographs collected by the Vancouver Museum which were created by photographer Philip T. Timms, or were otherwise connected to the Timms family. Subseries consists of photograph on a number of subjects, including: buildings (such as churches, retail stores, banks, and commercial buildings); construction scenes; street scenes (mostly of Downtown Vancouver areas); parks (especially sites in Stanley Park and on Bowen Island); ships and harbours; geological phenomona (such as sand drifts and rock formations); natural history images (such as trees and coastal areas); the Fraser Midden archaeological site; and other areas. Subseries also includes photographs of people and groups, including: church choirs and other groups; parades; people engaged in recreational activities; and members of the Timms family, including Philip Timms.

Photograph is accompanied by a label that states: "Here is how we kept our clothes clean. The Pioneer Laundry and the Cascade Laundry, passing Woodwards second venture formerly on Westminster Ave. (Main St.). R. Mills, J. A. Flett American Type Founders. J. W. Gilmer and Co. premises have all been taken over. Now a Horse is a curiosity on the city streets."

Photograph shows horse-drawn carriages on street, including one for the Badminton Hotel; Christ Church Cathedral; and a building containing both a grocery store (Kyle Grocery) and a picture framing store (Timms Art Emporium), later the site of the Georgia Medical - Dental building, then Cathedral Place.
