The fonds consists of field notes (1912-1921); maps and blueprints from Bushnell's work, particularly the Lillooet Mining District, 1928-1943; bills and receipts; clippings, correspondence and material related to schooling and military service; records of surveying in the Vancouver area; material relating to the activities of the Corporation of Land Surveyors of the Province of British Columbia; plans of Bushnell residence; and subdivision plan of Shaughnessy Heights; and photographs of his family and friends and of his military life and surveying career, with views of Vancouver homes, harbour and docks.

Also present are the records of other members of the Bushnell family. Including Bushnell's daughter Christina Susan (Susie) Stenersen (nee Bushnell), son James Henry Oakes (Harry) Bushnell, and wife, Christina Frances Bushnell. Also present are records relating to Gunner Stenersen, Christina's husband. These include scrapbooks, correspondence, photographs, school reports, diaries, and postcard albums.
