Typed note affixed to back: "Sir William Van Horne who suggested that the name Vancouver be given to the far Western terminus of the Canadian Pacific transcontinental railway system, when two little waterfront communities on Burrard Inlet joined in incorporation, while he was vice-president and general manager of the railroad."
