Collector/curator?s description reads: ?1956, Vancouver. Portrait of Ruth Holmes in her nursing outfit. Ruth Holmes (nee Ramsey) was born in Keystone, Alberta on March 13, 1914, and she died on Jan. 26th, 2003 in Vancouver, at the age of 88. She married Benjamin Pope on May 19th, 1946 in Bellingham, Washington, but they separated in 1948 and divorced in 1955. They had no children. On July 6th 1957 she married Emmitt Andrew Holmes in Vancouver to whom she remained married until her death. They had no children. Ruth did have TB sometime in the early 50s, and spent some time in the Tranquille Sanitorium in Kamloops, B.C. Once cured, she entered nursing, and met Emmitt. This photo was taken circa 1956 when she graduated from nursing school.?
