The chapter on natural history (1st editon v.2 chapter 7) is in this edition transferred to the appendix. In this appendix the estimate of wester Indians is given under the heading :"Enumeration of Indian nations and their places of general residence".
Note pasted inside cover: "Tradition is",said James Hermon, son of the late E.B. Hermon, Esq., both father and son being pioneers of Vancouver, "that the book was borrowed from the Hudson's Bay Company's library, Hope, B.C., and never returned".
"For many years it was in the family of Cpt. Lewis Nunn Agassiz, Royal Welsh Fusiliers, who, in 1862, pre-empted land at Ferny Coombe, now Agassiz, BC. Mrs. Hermon, my wife, is his granddaughter.

On flyleaf there is a signature of J Hall, Fort Hope August 18th.
On the title page there is a signature of A.D. Pringle. On the opposite page to the signature there is an explanation:"Rev. A.D. Pringle was the first rector at Hope, B.C. Christ Church, Hope was opened November 1st 1861".
