Marie was born in Prelate, Saskatchewan. Married in February 1947, William and Eva were both from Saskatchewan and both were of German descent. They had come to Vancouver together, got married and saved every penny they had. (They were, however, willing to spend a little extra to have their wedding photo painted.) Not long after this picture was taken the couple paid $400 for a plot of land on East 55th Avenue in Vancouver. There they built a little stucco bungalow and raised three children. They lived in that humble, little house until they both passed away.”
