Name of creator
George Cran was born in Scotland and came to Vancouver with his parents in 1907. He began his newspaper career in 1910 when he took a job as office boy for the News Advertiser. By 1942 he had become Vice President and Advertising Manager. Cran served six months with the 1st B.C. Regiment in 1918-1919, returned to The Sun and worked there until his retirement in 1950. He died at 91 on August 4, 1986.
Scope and content
The fonds consists of personal memoirs and papers, business correspondence, scripts of speeches, clippings and photographs.
