Expo '86' - press release footage

Item consists of raw footage featuring B.C./Expo 86 aerials; shot in 35mm and transferred to one inch tape. Original negative no longer exists and only video footage survives. Some of this material was used in Yaletown Production's video postcard series.

Hong Kong and Victoria -miscellaneous

Item is an amateur film from Douglas Scott's time living in Hong Kong and Victoria, British Columbia, which captures the Scott family at their Hong Kong home; boats in a crowded Hong Kong harbour and various ships; a Texaco station; fireworks at night; the lights of downtown Hong Kong; the streets of Hong Kong, with a man giving a performance or a speech, street vendors, merchants, cars, rickshaws, and signs; a cricket match; the Cenotaph in Hong Kong; a military parade and people near the waterfront to see off an unidentified dignitary (perhaps a British Navy admiral based on his uniform); and airplanes flying in formation. In Canada, the footage includes fishing in boats; sailing, possibly in the Gulf Islands; a sunset over the mountains and trees; animals, including deer, chickens, and a bear; a garden and flowers. The film then returns to China, and captures parts of an airplane being transported, followed by shots of an airplane flying.

Item is an amateur film documenting a group, including Victor Vance Spencer and his wife, Peggy, shooting skeet, hunting birds, and fishing. Film also documents a cattle drive and pigs.

File contains a photograph album showing various scenes of Vancouver and the surrounding area. Item is a film showing the boat (“Lady Keevan”) loaded from a dry dock at Main and Union Streets to a truck to be transported to the water. Film also shows a whale being pulled from the water onto a dock and is cut apart, dock at Telegraph Cove, scenes on the water at River, Knight and Jervis Inlets, and the exterior of the Malibu Club House at Egmont, B.C.

Item is a film showing the inaugural journey of Lady Lynn, a small fishing boat. The boat is driven through Vancouver to the docks, where it is placed into the water. The film shows multiple fishing trips with friends and family to Deep Cove, Galiano Island, and other places likely in and around the Burrard Inlet. There is footage of travelling along the water north of Stanley Park, under the Lions Gate Bridge, passing by the light house at Brockton Point, and around the marine gas stations in Coal Harbour. There is also footage of the Mount Seymour Coffee Bar and the Galiano Lodge.
