History

George Cran was born in Scotland and came to Vancouver with his parents in 1907. He began his newspaper career in 1910 when he took a job as office boy for the News Advertiser. By 1942 he had become Vice President and Advertising Manager. Cran served six months with the 1st B.C. Regiment in 1918-1919, returned to The Sun and worked there until his retirement in 1950. He died at 91 on August 4, 1986.
