Scope and content

Series consists of files of records accumulated by L.D. Taylor pertaining to his activities as Mayor, political affairs, issues, and events in Vancouver, his business interests and activities, his property holdings, his family and friends, and his personal activities and interests. The series includes mayoral correspondence files for the years 1910 to 1911, arranged alphabetically. Other correspondence includes letters from Ted and Ken Taylor and other family members pertaining to their careers and activities. Files organized according to subject pertain to issues that Taylor dealt with in his political career, such as the single tax, policing, unions, water supply, False Creek lands, and bridges; his business interests; and his personal and family life. Some files contain notes made by Ted Taylor after L.D.'s death.

Document types include correspondence, newspaper clippings, photographs, contracts, leases and other legal and financial documents, election material, reports, political cartoons, date books, note books, and ephemera.

Arrangement

Arrangement of records into files is for the most part chronological by year, with a few files organized according to subject. This arrangement of material into files appears to have been created by Ted Taylor after his father s death, and has been maintained. Series has been arranged chronologically by the Archivist in keeping with this arrangement.
