History

The Canadian Contingent, consisting of the Canadian Yeomanry, Canadian Mounted Rifles and Strathcona Horse, was raised from Militia, civilian and police volunteers for service in the Imperial Forces during the South African War of 1899-1902. Recruitment in Vancouver was under the direction of Lt. Col. Charles Worsnop of the 6th Regiment D.C.O.R.
