History

The British Columbia Chamber of Mines was incorporated in 1912 and functioned as an information and publicity house for mining exploration and activity. The Chamber has been financed by contributions from mining companies, engineers, geologists, prospectors, the City, and the Provincial Government. The Chamber provided a library and reading room to service the mining industry, and conducted its own mining school for many years. In 1943, its name was changed to the British Columbia and Yukon Chamber of Mines.
