Scope and content

Series consists of drawings relating to Harry Barratt s architectural designs. Drawings were created during the initial design and proposal phases of projects, as well as during revision prior to the construction phase. Documents include lot plans, elevations, floor plans, and perspective and concept drawings. Series is arranged chronologically.

Immediate source of acquisition

Barratt stored the drawings on wooden dowels, normally with one project per dowel. The drawings have been arranged into files on this basis. Each dowel was labeled by job number and name. Barratt assigned job numbers according to the date of the initial engagement. Each job number is typically composed of three elements: day, month, and year. In cases where a job number could not be established, files are assigned an unidentified roll number (UN #) in the location field of the file level description.

General note

The date range of each file is derived from the dates of the actual drawings, which Barratt seldom included on the drawings. Where dates are not indicated on the drawings, they are given as a probable date, e.g. [1951?], based on the job number.
