History
The steamship Alpha, the second vessel bearing this name, sailed to British Columbia in the late 1890s from the Eastern Coast of North America. The ship transported men and supplies north to the Klondike Gold Rush. The ship foundered off Yellow Rock in 1900 and sank, drowning nine men.
