Item is original camera tape footage taken for the one hour television network documentary featuring Canada's aerobatic team, the Snowbirds. Includes the continuation of the interview with former Snowbird pilot and team lead Yogi Kuyghebaert [?] (1975?), interview with George Miller Snowbirds Team Leader (1973?), who also talks about his experience as a pilot with the former aerobatic flying team the Golden Hawks (to 1964) and about the Golden Hawks in general, the final interview is with Colonel O.B. Philp, affectionately known as 'Obie', who was responsible for starting the Snowbirds demonstration team, He talks about traveling with the [Golden] Centennaires in 1967 and how the Snowbirds got started.

Item is original camera tape footage taken for the one hour television network documentary featuring Canada's aerobatic team, the Snowbirds. Includes footage of the conclusion for O.B. Philp's [affectionately known as Obie] speech at the 20th anniversary Snowbirds reunion banquet in Moose Jaw, S.K. in 1990, some shots of the audience listening and reacting to the speech. O.B. Philp then presents a poem about the Snowbirds, which is read by Major Dan Dempsey. Bill Johnson joins O.B. Philp at the podium and they present a copy of their book about the Snowbirds to Major Dan Dempsey, then Dempsey presents O.B. Philps with a stained glass piece. Footage continues with an interview with outgoing Snowbirds Team Lead Major Dan Dempsey.

Those magnificent snowbirds - The first 20 years

Item is a copy of "Canada's magnificent snowbirds - 20th Anniversary" one hour television network documentary featuring Canada's aerobatic team, the Snowbirds. The documentary begins with an overall set up of a child wanting to grow up to be a Snowbird pilot. The story of the Snowbirds begins with try outs for four new Snowbirds pilots and moves on to the history of aerobatic flight teams in Canada. Using a mix of narration, interviews and historical footage the history of the Snowbirds is laid out and then the narration moves into practice, training and the designing of the new airshow routine for the 1991, 20th Anniversary, season. Leaving the training base in Moose Jaw, S.K. the Snowbirds team travels to Comox, B.C. for an airshow. The documentary continues with an overview of the role of the Snowbirds and their goals on their public relations and air show role. Themes touch on why the Snowbirds have lasted as long as they have and why they will continue on into the future. In addition to shots of crowds and performances two airshow promoters from the USA are interviewed. Back in Moose Jaw at the end of the 1991 season there is a reunion of alumni pilots. The documentary ends with a final performance of the 20th season and a child on a beach inspired to someday be a Snowbird pilot. Narrated by Leslie Neilsen. Cassette version edited from D-2. This is the superless cassette version - no blacks or bumpers.

Vancouver airport opening

Item consists of a motion picture film containing Fox Movietone Newsreel footage of the opening of the Sea Island airport in Vancouver. The footage begins with a man prop-starting a small plane. Some shots of a group of men standing next to the plane are followed by the plane taxiing on the runway (VH-UPS on the side). Another shot of the same group of men [possibly including Mayor L.D. Taylor?] is followed by a cockpit shot of the pilot in the plane. Shots of the hanger and terminal building are followed by an unidentified speaker addressing the audience with a microphone and a brass band behind him.
