Biographical history
The Women's Auxiliary to the Air Services was established in Vancouver early in 1940. The members were initially wives and relatives of men serving in the 111th Squadron. The work consisted of knitting, organizing social events and other activities, primarily for the welfare of Vancouver airmen and their families. In later years, gifts were sent to airmen from all over Canada and the United States. The group was also responsible for the 1948 dedication of the Air Force Memorial Garden in Stanley Park.
