Three horticultural societies in Point Grey, South Vancouver and Greater Vancouver were formed as a result of interest in gardening during and following World War I. In 1929 the three societies amalgamated to form the Vancouver Horticultural Society and Farmers Institute.

The fonds consists of bound programmes for horticultural events, 1914-1952; correspondence; a photograph of the Second Horticultural Exhibition of the South Vancouver Horticultural Society, 1917; the constitution and by-laws of the South Vancouver Horticultural Association, 1922; constitution and by-laws of the Vancouver Horticultural Society; minute books, 1929-1933 and 1939-1954; financial statements, 1940-1972; general correspondence, 1948-1972; bulletins, 1949-1965; certificates received and awarded, 1932-1958; and miscellaneous horticultural publications, 1937-1973.
