Biographical history
At the turn of the century, the United Church of Canada established hospitals in many communities as an extension of their missionary work with native peoples. In 1955, the Church appointed a national commission to survey the administration and operation of these hospitals, including the assessment of individual institutions.

The fonds consists of minutes, 1955, 1958 (incomplete); correspondence, 1955-1958, from offices in Toronto and Winnipeg; surveys and briefs; Report of the Commission on Church Hospitals, 1956; and miscellaneous papers re commission activities.
