History
Ricketts, Taschereau & Co. was founded by D. Grantley W. Ricketts, most likely in 1912. Ricketts was a civil engineer born in India, who arrived in Vancouver around 1909. The firm was founded, according to the preface to its Atlas of Vancouver, in order to "collect and consolidate an organization capable of undertaking and carrying out, through its various departments, Engineering and Surveying work of any magnitude in any of the numerous fields found in this Province."
The firm appears in city directories in 1913 and disappears the following year. Another civil engineer, Henry Webster, is also associated with the company, but it is unclear if he was a partner or employee. Both Ricketts and Webster disappear from the Vancouver city directories in 1913, and it is unclear whether the company was re-founded elsewhere or was wound up.
