Garden, Hermon and Burwell was a pioneer surveying firm, established in 1886 as Garden and Hermon. J.F. Garden was Mayor of Vancouver from 1898-1900 and an MLA from 1900-1909. E.B. Hermon, the firm's other founder, reorganized it after Garden's departure, and its present lineal descendant is Hermon, Cotton and Bunbury.

The fonds consists of correspondence, memoranda, specifications, drawings, and support documents concerning the construction of the Vancouver Street Railway in 1889-1890; receipts and invoices 1893-1899; 1910 correspondence between the Property Owners of Hastings Townsite and the Provincial Health Department relating to proposed location of the Isolation Hospital; and a copy, 1910, of an agreement between property holders and promoters of an electric tramway.
