Administrative history
The First Baptist Church on the mainland was organized in New Westminster in August 1878. In Vancouver, the church was not established until Reverend J.W. Daniels arrived in November of 1886. On 16 March 1887, with a membership of ten, the First Baptist Church, consisting of a small frame structure on Westminster Avenue, was opened. A new church was built and opened on 10 September 1889 on the corner of Hamilton and Dunsmuir Streets.
