Scope and content

Series consists of files documenting the design, acquisition and maintenance of the manufacturing systems at the BC Sugar refinery in Vancouver, as well as facilities at its wholly-owned subsidiaries in Alberta and the Dominican Republic.

The records include vendor catalogues, technical bulletins and manuals for a wide variety of manufacturing and other plant equipment and tools. The records also include maintenance plans and feasibility studies, maintenance account records documenting the costs associated with maintaining equipment in various departments, technical drawings of plant equipment, and maps of the Vancouver refinery site.

The series includes one sub-series documenting production and engineering activities at the BC Sugar subsidiary in the Dominican Republic, the Ozama Sugar Plantation and Factory. The series also includes sub-series which document the construction, upgrading and renovations to the three sugar beet refineries operated by the BC Sugar subsidiary in Alberta, Canadian Sugar Factories.
