History

The Downtown Business Association was established in 1946 as a reorganization of the Downtown Merchants Association. The general objectives of the Association are to protect, enhance, and promote the economic, commercial, and social well-being of the City of Vancouver and, in particular, the downtown area. Membership is made up of community and business leaders and property owners. The Association is a member of the International Downtown Executives Association which is composed of virtually all major downtown organizations in Canada and the United States. In 1979 it changed its name to the Downtown Vancouver Association.
