Biographical history

Charles Thompson was a Vancouver businessman and politician. Born in Grey County, Ontario, he moved to Vancouver in 1924 and eventually established Vancouver Motors Limited. He managed the mayoralty campaign of G.G. McGeer in 1934. He was elected alderman for the term 1945 1946, and re-elected for 1947-1948. He was elected mayor for 1949-1950.

Scope and content

The fonds consists of a scrapbook (1934-1936) on the campaign and election of Gerry McGeer kept by Thompson; two presentation scrolls by artist J. Roy Ogston, an audio disc of Vancouver City Council final session, and photographs of Thompson and various public functions, views of City Hall, and autographed portraits of prime ministers.
