Boyd, Burns and Company, dealers in plumbing and engineering supplies, was established in 1894. In 1902 it opened a ship chandlery department. The firm was purchased by Crane Limited in 1908, which sold the ship chandlery business to Simson, Balkwill and Company, the predecessors to Gordon and Belyca Limited.
