Custodial history

Scope and content

Collection consists of information acquired by Adrien Mansvelt, the Consul General of the Netherlands stationed in Vancouver in the early 1970s. The records were largely collected on behalf of the City of Vancouver Archives in agreement with the City Archivist at the time, and therefore do not form a personal collection. The records relate to the ancestors of George Vancouver and his family connection to the van Coeverden family of the town of Coevorden in the Netherlands.

The collection consists of photographs, prints, magazine articles, pamphlets, maps and plans. Most of the material has been reproduced from various repositories in Europe.
